I served as an adjunct professor spring of 2022, teaching the top ensemble at Monmouth College. We presented two concerts and performed at commencement. The second concert is above, and the first can be found here.
I rehearse the Wind Ensemble, Western's top ensemble, weekly, teaching fundamentals in our warm-ups and applying them to our concert repertoire. I use a combination of Ed Lisk exercises, chorales, and warmups that I have written for band. Above is Persichetti's Serenade No. 1, performed with a selection of the ensemble's top players. Additional performances I have conducted with the Wind Ensemble can be found here.
I have the opportunity to instruct the Concert Band throughout their rehearsal cycle and direct them in concert. Above is a movement from Puszta. Additional performances I have conducted with the Concert Band can be found here.
I founded this ensemble at Western Illinois University the spring of 2017. It is the premier clarinet choir at the university, performing at multiple unique events each semester, including recitals in the COFAC Recital Hall, flash mobs at various local businesses, Study Break events before finals, food pantries, zoos, and more. The group travelled to Chicago on an overnight trip for the honor to work with John Yeh of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, among other enriching activities.
The ensemble is now under the direction of Professor Eric Ginsberg.
I founded this ensemble at Western Illinois University the fall of 2017. I served as its head director, and I invited three other music education members from the Silver Keys to serve as co-directors. The ensemble is designed to give clarinet secondaries an opportunity to gain clarinet-related skills in a safe environment as well as give other education majors from the top ensemble an opportunity to teach. Each co-director selected a piece and rehearsed it with the ensemble each semester to present in multiple performances.
The ensemble is now under the direction of four Silver Keys education majors.
I recently taught a semester of conducting lessons to the Black Hawk College Director of Bands, and I taught three years of conducting in both a private lesson and masterclass setting to the Throat Tones directors. I also subbed for conducting - MUS336 at WIU and taught error detection.
